It is with mixed emotions that we announce Bike Masters will be closing our doors for good July 21st.
It has been our pleasure serving Maple Valley and the surrounding areas for the last eight years, but alas, it is time to move on. We feel as though during our time we became a large part of the local cycling scene, and also small segment of the community at large. It was the latter part that was the most rewarding to me personally.
My wife Chris, daughter Hannah and I thank each and every one of our customers, many of whom have become good friends. Keep an eye out at the surrounding bike shops and you might find Mike wrenching away, continuing to keep you all riding smoothly. Chris and I are looking for a new home to retire in, somewhere in Western Washington, so you’ll probably see me around, still riding in my Bike Masters kit, as long as they hold out.
I enjoyed the ride!

Who We Are
Ron, Mike, & Parker. Mike and I opened Bike Masters & Boards July of 2011. We tuned skis and snowboards that first winter; tried skateboards the next summer; but this was more about passion, so we decided to focus on bikes. When we moved to our current location around the 2013 holidays, we dropped the "& Boards" and any pretext that we might be doing this for anything other than the love of bikes.
What We Do
Lots of riding, wrenching, buying, selling, chatting, schmoozing, laughing, dodging solicitors, admiring folks for riding in the rain, envious of them when the sun's shining. We race once in a while, but that's more about hanging with our friends. We greet regulars by name, and it's almost always the right name.
Random shout out to James, the first guy I met related to this business, way back at Maple Valley Days in the spring of 2011, who still stops by most every day to reguile us with his adventures.
And to the kids who pile in after school with their sticky fingers and silly questions.
How We Work
Hard. Like we play. We enjoy what we do, and I think it shows. People are endlessly fascinating, and there's nothing like the look of someone after they've test ridden the right bike. Except maybe the look after they've ridden for an hour or two. Or five.
We grease threads, cross tighten bolt patterns, and torque parts to spec. We take special orders, and give the best deals we can, because you work hard for your money too.
We put in long hours and stress over your bikes, so we can have good turn-around times and you can get back to riding. We enjoy working on the occasional wheelchair, walker, garden cart, and I even fixed a bass drum pedal once.
And if you'd like to give us advice and instruction on how to work on the bike in the stand, we'd love to listen. Ahh! Kidding.
